Congratulations on your interest in climbing! Before you book in the Fenrock 14+ Assessment, we want to provide you with some important information to help you prepare.
What is the Induction Assessment?
The Induction Assessment is a one-hour session designed to assess your climbing abilities and knowledge of climbing safety, warming up, reducing impact, and gym induction. The session is one-on-one, meaning that it will be just you and your instructor. If you pass the assessment, you will be allowed to climb unsupervised.
What to expect?
The assessment will involve a mix of practical climbing and theoretical questions. Your instructor will assess your abilities and knowledge to ensure that you can climb safely and with good bouldering etiquette. They will also provide you with feedback on how you can improve your climbing technique.
What should I bring?
You should bring comfortable and suitable clothes for climbing, including climbing shoes. If you don’t have your own shoes, you can hire them from Fenrock for an additional fee. You should also bring water and a snack if you think you might get hungry during the session.
What will I be assessed on?
You will be assessed on your knowledge of climbing safety, warming up, reducing impact, and gym induction. Your instructor will ask you a series of questions and observe your technique while you climb. The aim is to ensure that you can climb safely and with good bouldering etiquette.
What if I don’t pass?
If you don’t pass the assessment, don’t worry. You can take the assessment again free of charge at a later date. Your instructor will provide you with feedback on what you need to improve on and how you can prepare for your next assessment.
What if I have special requirements?
If you have any special requirements, such as a disability, please let us know before your assessment. We want to ensure that everyone can take part in climbing, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Thank you for taking the time to read this information sheet. We wish you the best of luck in your assessment and hope that you enjoy climbing at Fenrock. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask your instructor.
