We are a 7-day leisure business. Evenings, weekends, and bank holiday availability is crucial to this position. Core shifts are predominantly weekends.

Fenrock is seeking responsible, independent team member/s. This is a role of significant responsibility; you will be a key holder responsible for opening and locking up the site, working independently to ensure the safety and security of the centre. You will report to the Centre Manager.
Primarily Weekend shifts with additional weekday and staff holiday cover. We are open to filling this as a single 16-hour contract or as two 8-hour staff positions and may have zero contract hours also available. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for climbing who loves supporting others in a friendly, community-driven environment.

Requirements

  • ​Age: 18+ (Required for solo site management and key-holding)
  • ​DBS: Clean Enhanced DBS check required
  • Certifications: BWI/CWI qualified 
  • We may consider candidates who have already completed their BWI training and are currently awaiting their final assessment date (evidence of training completion will be required).
  • Fenrock may offer supported training via the Mountain Training pathway or site-specific assessments for a large cohort of candidates.
  • Qualifications: Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate, Emergency First Aid at work- 8hr training or willingness to obtain both immediately
  • Physicality: Ability to perform manual handling tasks and heavy duty cleaning. As part of your role, you may be required to assist with the stripping of the wall and the washing of holds in preparation for resetting.
  • Reliability: You must be highly dependable; this role is essential for keeping the centre open and operational.

Key Responsibilities

​Solo Site Management: Manage the centre solo (supported by our Lone Working Policy), including opening/closing procedures and facility security.
Coaching & Instruction: Deliver group climbing sessions and safety inductions. Able to deliver safe, engaging climbing and bouldering sessions for all ages and abilities.
Support supervised sessions, group bookings, and community events
Compliance: Oversee the check in process, ensuring all waivers (Acknowledgement of Risk and Supervision forms) and registration forms are correctly completed and assessed prior to customer entry. Ensure centre rules are adhered to by all at all times. Promote safe climbing practices and ensure a positive visitor experience.
​Cafe & Service: Deliver great customer service. Make and serve cafe and retail items using our POS system.
Physical and Maintenence Duties: As part of a small team, you will be required to take on multiple duties. This is a physical role that includes moving heavy items (such as gym equipment and crates of holds) and performing heavy duty cleaning and vacuuming on a regular basis
​Standards: Maintain a clean, safe environment with minimal supervision. Contribute to Fenrock’s welcoming, inclusive atmosphere

Pay & Benefits

Pay is in line with UK National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage rates and will be confirmed based on age at the time of employment:
Rates are reviewed annually in line with government updates each April.

Probation: All roles are subject to a 6 month probationary period.
